Why Bagiya Ji?बगिया जी क्यों?

Bagiya is the Hindi word for a small garden: the kind of garden a grandmother keeps behind the house, with a tulsi plant, a lemon tree and a few rows of seasonal sabzi. Ji is the respect we give to elders. This garden gets that respect, because it teaches more than it takes.

By profession I work in IT, which means screens, deadlines and logic. The terrace is the opposite. Seeds don't follow sprint plans. Soil can't be debugged in a day. And yet there's a kind of logic here too, one that is older and slower and far more patient.

What this site is

• A diary of one terrace in Indore: what was sown, what grew, what failed.
• A notebook of natural farming, organic methods, permaculture and horticulture, written in plain words.
• A set of desi recipes and small tools that make terrace farming easier.

What it isn't

It isn't expert advice, a shop or a business. It's a love letter to plants, soil and the slow joy of growing your own food.

बगिया यानी छोटा-सा बगीचा, वैसा जैसा दादी-नानी घर के पीछे रखती थीं: एक तुलसी, एक नींबू का पेड़ और मौसमी सब्ज़ियों की कुछ क्यारियाँ। जी वह आदर है जो हम बड़ों को देते हैं। यह बगिया भी उस आदर की हक़दार है, क्योंकि यह जितना लेती है, उससे कहीं ज़्यादा सिखाती है।

पेशे से मेरा काम आईटी का है, यानी स्क्रीन, डेडलाइन और तर्क। छत इसका ठीक उल्टा है। बीज स्प्रिंट-प्लान नहीं मानते। मिट्टी एक दिन में डीबग नहीं होती। फिर भी यहाँ भी एक तर्क है, जो पुराना है, धीमा है और कहीं ज़्यादा धैर्यवान है।

यह साइट क्या है

• इंदौर की एक छत की डायरी: क्या बोया, क्या उगा, क्या नहीं उगा।
• प्राकृतिक खेती, जैविक तरीकों, पर्माकल्चर और बागवानी की सरल शब्दों में लिखी कॉपी।
• देसी नुस्खे और छोटे औज़ार, जो छत की खेती आसान बनाते हैं।

यह क्या नहीं है

यह किसी विशेषज्ञ की सलाह, दुकान या व्यापार नहीं है। यह पौधों, मिट्टी और अपना अन्न उगाने के धीमे आनंद के नाम एक प्रेम-पत्र है।
